Tim Kempfe, Owner/Manager
Double Harvest Waterfowlers is operated on private hunting land just outside of Carthage, in Northeast Texas. This fantastic property includes 710 acres of prime Sabine River bottom. 300 of the 710 acres is a flooded cypress swamp that the locals refer to as "The Duck Pond".

Texas Hunting Guide ServicesThe water level averages 2-3 feet more or less depending on rainfall. However, we have installed control gates to help maintain the best water level. This also allows us to keep the water drained until the vegetation is fully grown. Vegetation is thick and there are numerous sources of natural foods. We also have a property management plan to enhance the natural characteristics with food plots to attract the maximum number of ducks.

There are a number of permanent blinds on this part of the property that make for comfortable hunts. You may find yourself hunting out of the Number one, Crossing, Bench, or Condo blinds. If we need to, we'll hunt standing up or in the brush if that's what it takes to get you on the birds.

Texas Duck HuntingThe property is divided by a gas well road. In addition to the 300 acre cypress swamp, there is also 200 more acres of flooded grass and timber next to Hog’s Bayou that we use for hunting. Hog’s Bayou runs down the center of the property and floods regularly during the season. We have more permanent blinds on this area as well including the Hogs Head, George’s, The Coffins, and the Hoochie Blinds. However, you may find yourself standing next to a tree, laying up in some grass, or sitting in some brush if that's what it takes to get the birds.

The rest of the property includes stands of trees and some thick underbrush areas with lowland areas that hold water. We have made a number of clearings and use these areas for hunting deer and hogs.

Our main goal is to provide quality duck hunts. All hunts are guided by responsible, mature, and capable people with years of hunting and guiding experience. We have all the decoys, blinds, layout boats, and retrievers. However, if you want to bring your trained dog we ask that you bring a travel kennel. Whether you are new to the sport or a seasoned pro looking for different scenery, we will work with you and for you to make sure your experience is a memorable one.

Our duck hunts are in the mornings only. This practice allows the ducks time to rest in the afternoon. Most of the time we hunt from permanent blinds on a rotating basis to keep the birds from getting wary of blind locations. We will also hunt in flooded timber standing next to a tree, from layout boats in flooded grass, or hidden in brush. We basically hunt where the birds want to be.

We can handle a maximum of 12 hunters on any given day. We like to hunt groups of three to four hunters per guide, but at your request we will hunt groups of five.

If deer or hog hunting is more your style, we can still accommodate you. We have numerous areas managed for deer and hog. We plant food plots and we use corn feeders to attract deer and hogs. We have improved and cleared existing and new areas.

Combination Hunts
Combination hunts for Ducks, Deer, and Hogs are available during duck hunting season. You will hunt ducks until noon, then relax until late afternoon when you will hunt for deer and hogs. This is a great deal that you big game hunters should take advantage of. Hunt ducks all morning, relax, then hunt big game in the evening. Rifle, bow, black powder, and handgun hunters are all welcome to give it a try.
