Colorado Big Game Hunting Guide Services
Packing List

The following checklists are provided to make your big game hunt a safe, enjoyable experience. We have divided them into three categories: General Packing; Day Packing; Optional Gear.

Rifle Hunting Packing List

General Packing

• Hunter Safety Card (if born after 1949)
• 500 square inches of fluorescent orange (to include vest/coat and hat)
• Colorado Conservation Certificate
• Warm sleeping bag and pillow
• Gun and gun-case with sling
• T-shirts
• Warm hunting coat
• Warm gloves & hat
• Cold weather hunting pants
• Boots (2 pair-waterproof-broken in)
• Long sleeve heavy shirts (worsterlon)
• Sunglasses
• Wool sweater
• Gun cleaning materials
• Socks (wool/wool blend)
• Rain gear-jacket & pants (preferably not nylon)
• Sock liners (polypro)
• Toiletries; include towel/shower items
• Long underwear; non cotton (rec. poly pro or silk)
• Watch & alarm clock

Day Packing

• Day Pack
• Water bottle
• Small first-aide kit
• Lighter/ 1 candle
• Ammunition
• Extra clothing ( 1 pair polypro underwear)
• Rain gear
• Space blanket
• Compass & whistle
• 2 hunting knives
• hunting license & pen
• flashlight/headlamp w/ extra batteries
• scent shield/elk urine

Optional Gear

• Binoculars
• Camera & film
• Gaiters (leggings)
• Range finder
• Extra gun
• Small thermos
• Chap stick

Archery Hunting Packing List

General Packing

• Light weight jacket
• Socks (wool/wool blend/poly pro)
• Sock liners
• Long sleeve shirts
• Wool sweater /fleece vest
• Light weight hunting pants
• Long underwear; non-cotton (rec. poly pro or silk)
• Warm sleeping bag & pillow
• Toiletries (include towel and shower items)
• Extra bow components
• T-shirts
• Warm gloves and hat
• Face mask or paint
• Boots (2 pair-waterproof-broken in)
• Sunglasses
